Denver is known for its early spring and winter snow storms. It is a beautiful sunny day, then it snows. Some of Denver’s biggest snow storms occur in late spring or early winter. Snow tree damage is greater when trees leafed out. The leafs catch the snow and the weight breaks branches. A large storm can wreak havoc on trees citywide.

DLC’s custom pruning corrects erratic growth and reestablishes proper form by promoting a central leader with evenly spaced branches throughout the crown. This type of pruning protects trees from Denver’s erratic weather.

Some Tree Species Need More Trimming Than Others

One of the most abundant trees planted in Denver is the silver maple. Silver maples grow tall and provide great shade. Thousand of these trees line south-central Denver streets. Silver maples are prone to fungus rot that hollows out the trees. Another tree with weak limbs is the catalpa. We recommend pruning silver maples and catalpa trees back to their strongest branches. This allows them to withstand heavy snow and promotes healthy growth.

Large evergreen trees with heavy foliage make them susceptible to breakage under heavy snow burdens. If you hear a loud snap during a snow storm, this usually means an evergreen tree has fallen on the ground and the tree will need to be removed. DLC Arbor has the experience and equipment to remove the largest trees found in the Denver area.
