DLC Arbor Services is a prescription-based Denver tree service company, which means our ISA Board Certified Master Arborist prescribes all services once he visits a property and diagnoses any tree problems. His diagnosis generates a tree service quotation, and the job starts upon property owner approval. DLC Arbor promises not to do any unnecessary work beyond the scope of our arborist’s diagnosis.
Denver Urban Forest Issues
There are over 1.4 million trees in Denver. Trees in the forest grow tall and straight. In yards, with abundant light and space, trees grow horizontally and vertically, producing thick limbs and foliage. Regular pruning is necessary to keep unhealthy growth in check, making these trees able to withstand Denver’s snowstorms.
The City of Denver offers many tree planting and tree health programs. The City Forester is actively monitoring the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Click here for the last news about Denver’s urban forest.
2020 Denver Tree Issues
Over the last two years, Denver experienced polar plunges in October. Many trees had not hardened yet, and some froze. The trees most susceptible to freezing are Plum, Cherry, Peach, and Siberian Elms. The trees that froze look OK in the winter, but damage becomes apparent the next spring. Look for twigs turning black, and limbs not leafing out. DLC Arbor cuts out the winter kill in affected trees to encourage growth. Unfortunately, some trees are not salvageable and need removal.
Fire Blight Treatment
There is a Fire Blight epidemic in Denver affecting Apple, Crabapple, and Pear trees. Our Master Arborist says, “It is uncommon for me to go to a property and not find Fire Blight on the Apple and Crabapple trees.” DLC Arbor is a leader in new and more effective approaches to Fire Blight. Homeowners with Apple or Pear trees should us to discuss your treatment options.
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)
Believe it or not, Denver Metro Area has an estimated 1.45 million Ash Trees. EAB devastates Ash since the trees have no resistance to the insect. In 2019, the EAB moved out if the federal quarantine area in Boulder County and is on the move. The effort to save the Ash in our City is staggering, and Denver started its Be A Smart Ash program to educate the public on its efforts. The City expects homeowners to care for any Ash on their property, so please contact us to discuss your treatment options.
